RE: [medical_billing] ultrasound question
It depends on your local policies for your insurance payor. Is this BS? What State?

Subject: Re: [medical_billing] ultrasound question
We have just started billing ultrasounds, I'm curious to know if they are like xrays and don't need modifiers or are they seperate procedures. If they are seperate I would say the second less expensive one would need a -51.

we had a patient come in here with a threatened abortion. The doctor
charged for an office visit and for an ob limited ultrasound and a
transvagional ultrasound. My question is, do I need a modifier on one
of these ultrasounds since the Dr. performed 2 on the same day. The
patient has TNCare.
Thanks,
Suzanne
